JOB CATEGORIES IN ITALY

Finding a job in Italy depends on various factors, such as qualifications, type of work, and knowledge of the Italian language. For higher-level opportunities, there are some positions and openings available for those who only speak English, especially in the northern region where large multinational companies and industries are located. It's important to search and have patience.

Italy classifies job positions into four types: operaio, impiegato, quadro, and dirigente. Here, we explain a little about each category.

  • Operaio: refers to operational positions, which can be translated as "worker" in Portuguese. These are usually positions that require less formal qualifications.

  • Impiegato: are office workers with intermediate formal qualifications, without leadership positions.

  • Quadro: are managerial-level workers or specialists in a specific function. They usually require higher-level formal qualifications.

  • Dirigente: executives in senior leadership positions within the company.

The category of the position already provides an idea of the hierarchy and salary level. Positions that may not require much knowledge of Italian are usually those at the Quadro or Dirigente level, as the nature of the work may be more international.

In the upcoming posts, we will discuss how salaries and taxes are defined in Italy. We will also talk about tax incentive programs that offer tax advantages. Stay tuned!Viver e trabalhar na Itália é o sonho de muitos italo-brasileiros, e quando a oportunidade chega muitos ficam em dúvida sobre como calcular os custos de vida para tal mudança.
